As part of its commitment to engage parents as partners in their child’s education, the Los Angeles Unified School District has developed a Title I Parent Involvement Policy. This policy was developed jointly with and approved by parents of Title I students from representative schools across LAUSD and adopted by the LAUSD Board of Education on December 11, 2020. Over 30 years of research confirms the important role of parent involvement in student achievement. Parents are their child’s first and life-long teacher. Parents can have a tremendous influence over their child’s success in school. The core belief that parents are partners is the foundation for the District’s overarching policy on parent engagement and is reinforced through its Title I Parent Involvement Policy.
